E.T. at Vienna zoo

By Lisa Chapman

Austrian media have dubbed Vienna zoo’s latest attraction "E.T." after they said a baby gibbon born on 23 September looks like the alien from the famous Hollywood blockbuster.

The white-handed gibbon joins father Robert, aged 11, mother Sipura, aged 21, and another two year-old sibling.

Zoo bosses said they were pleased to have another gibbon in their ranks as all species of gibbons are under threat in the wild because of destruction of their habitat.

The zoo, on the grounds of Schönbrunn Palace, is one of Vienna’s biggest tourist attractions.
