Toilet camera in boys toilet was a fake

A school director at a primary school in Vöcklabruck is in hot water after she authorised the mounting of a CCTV camera in the boys toilets to try and force the children to be more careful when using the urinals.

The camera device was fitted after cleaners had complained about the lack of hygiene among the boys when using the toilet and was fitted without the knowledge of parents.

When it was discovered that the toilet had the device parents complained at which point the teacher denied that there had been a camera installed – and when confronted with pictures she admitted that in fact it was simply a realistic looking fake.

Psychologists said that even using a fake camera would have caused emotional distress to the young boys and it was not something that was authorised by the education authority.

Regional education boss Fritz Enzenhofer said that a real camera would never have been allowed because of data protection laws and that he knew nothing about a fake camera being installed on school property.

He said that if it was true he distanced himself from it and would not have authorised it.
He said it would have been more far more effective to make the boys have two meets the cleaner. Clean up the mess that they were leaving.
