Josef Fritzl in Thailand 1998

This may seem like an ordinary home video - lots of laughter and four friends enjoying themselves on an exotic holiday in Thailand.

They eat in the best restaurants, go looking for bargains in local markets, enjoy sun-filled days and even the occasional massage on the beach.

But the whole video seen here together exclusively on the Austrian times for the first time takes on a chilling quality when you realise one of the people is 'dungeon dad' Josef Fritzl.

While he enjoys three weeks with friends lying beside a swimming pool at a luxury hotel or on the beach, his daughter Elisabeth has already been locked up for 14 years in the cellar below his house back home.

She would remain there for another 10 years after this video was shot.

Fritzl locked Elisabeth up in the deliberately-built cellar under his house in Amstetten, Lower Austria for a total of 24 years.

Now he is accused of raping her more than 3,000 times - and making her pregnant eight times. Three of the children he released to live with his wife and him in their house on Ybbstrasse, and the other three had to spend their lives underground until last April. Two did not survive.

Fritzl will be on trial from 16 March to 20 March. He is accused of murder, rape, slavery, incest, imprisonment and abuse - and is likely to spend the rest of his days behind bars.
