Austrian athletes successful in IPC Skiing World Championships

Claudia Lösch from Neupölla (Lower Austria) won the Super-G race at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina (Spain). It is the 24-year-old’s first gold medal in the World Championships.

Yesterday (Thurs) turned out to be a good day for the team of Austria’s athletes in La Molina.

The Carinthian Markus Salcher won the men Super-G (category: standing), once again. Matthias Lanzinger from Salzburg came second in the race. Claudia Lösch won the gold medal in the ladies Super-G (category: sitting).

The female athlete, who came fourth in the downhill race, is very pleased with her victory: "I am very happy. In the last three World Championships I always just missed the third place. This is why the gold medal is worth so much to me", Ms Lösch said.

The next important races for Austria’s athletes will be the slalom on Saturday, the super combined (Mon), the giant slalom (Tues) and the team-contest (Wed).
