Red Bull Salzburg Alan's six months break

Redbull Salzburg's goal getter Alan tore his right cruciate ligament against Rapid (0:0) on Sunday and will not play for six months.

The 22-year-old Brasilian will be operated on Tuesday, the top of the league football team said in a release. Scoring six goals in the qualification, Alan Douglas Borghes de Carvalho was one of the main reasons for Red Bull Salzburg to enter the group phase of the UEFA Europe League.

He injured himself without anybody else involved in the last seconds of the game against Rapid on Sunday.

Salzburg coach, Dutchman Ricardo Moniz, said: "Football is everything for Alan but this event shows once more that football is not the most important. Health is much more important. I'm sure he will return stronger."

The team will not replace Alan since they have presented new striker Stefan Maierhofer only days ago.
