Olympic medallist commits suicide

Judo star Claudia Heill is dead, it was announced today (Thurs).

The Austrian Judo Association (÷JV) said that the 29-year-old killed herself. The federation did not disclose when Heill ended her life and whether she left some kind of farewell note.

Heill ended her professional career in 2009. Her biggest success was a silver medal at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004. The Vienna-born came fifth in the Beijing Olympics three years ago.

Heill has been sitting sport marketing lectures at a college in Wiener Neustadt, Lower Austria, for some months. She planned to start working as a judo coach in the near future.
