Thousands of runners are expected to take part in the 11th Wien Energie Half Marathon in Vienna this Sunday (21 March).
The 21.1-kilometre event, which will start (10pm) and finish at the Donauplex centre in Donaustadt district, is regarded as the perfect preparation for next month’s Vienna City Marathon (VCM) since it offers the atmosphere and circumstances of a competition.
Time for registrations ended last week, but www.halbmarathon.at offers information on the race’s route, closed roads and various side events.
VCM organiser Wolfgang Konrad meanwhile said he hoped for more than 30,000 participants when the event takes place for the 27th time on 18 April.
Classical music will blast through loudspeakers along the track to soothe runners during the gruelling 42.195 kilometres.
Visit www.vienna-marathon.com for more information the event in four languages.
