Pink Floyd's Roger Waters is bringing 'The Wall' back to Austria. He will be performing on 23 August next year plus 24 dates in Europe during 2013. with tickets on sale in Austria from 24 November.
The legendary rocker announced the return of his historic musical production with a Europe tour including Austria at a conference in Lodnon where he said he had created a dramatic stadium event for summer 2013, promising a bigger and better show than ever before.
Roger commented: "I'm extremely glad to be playing 'The Wall' in Europe again. It's going to be a lot of fun for all of us. I've reworked the show to play outdoors in large stadiums. It's really good. Even more moving, engaging, dramatic and thrilling than the Arena shows."
Asked about the Vienna event he said: "I am really looking forward to Sacher Torte and Kipferl.
"The Wall" was originally supposed to be played on the Danube island (Donauinsel) because from summer the Ernst Happel-Stadion was supposed to be the location for various league football matches but because of the timetable for renovation work this was moved elsewhere meaning that the venue is now free.
When the original show hit the road there were often problems finding venues to match but now even with an expanded show it's no longer a problem according to the star.
He said: I've had to rethink the whole thing about stadiums. This wide wall stadium show couldn't have been done 40 years ago. We couldn't have filled the space in a way that would have been emotionally, musically and theatrically satisfying. Technology has changed. Now we can."
The theatrical extravaganza is based on the band's best-selling album and is one of the most successful tours in rock history, playing 192 shows around the world to over 3.3 million fans. The new up-scaled event will feature a full band and up-to-the-minute technology.
