Artistic director Claudia Bauer will take over as the press and new media manager for the Belvedere and 21er Haus museums in Vienna with immediate effect.
Her extensive experience in public relations as well as her broad knowledge of art and culture qualify Bauer to shape the future of communication policies for the Belvedere.
Bauer previously worked at the Kunsthalle in Vienna serving as Press and Marketing Specialist from 1995 to 2002 and then as Head of the Press and Marketing Department. As part of her management role in strategic planning she was wholly responsible for marketing, sponsoring and public relations.
Now 44 years old, Bauer's career started at American Express Bank and she also worked in Events Management for the publisher MANZ'schen. She worked both jobs while she studied Art and Art Management and then a Masters degree in "European Art and Culture Management Program for the Arts and Media" at Johannes Kepler University in Linz.
The Belvedere houses the significant collection of Austrian art from the Middle Ages to the present together with the work of international artists such as Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh and Max Beckmann. At the heart of the collection is the world's largest exhibition of Gustav Klimt paintings. This year the Belvedere's jubilee exhibition is expected to receive a record breaking number of over 1 million visitors.
Almost one year ago the opening of the 21er Haus at the Belvedere presented a new exhibition venue for Austrian art dating from 1945 to the present day in an international context.
