Glitz, glamour and celebrity will be out in full force once again at the Orange Filmball in Vienna in March. The event which was held in the Vienna Rathaus for the first time in 2010 has already played host to two of Hollywood’s biggest names, Kevin Spacey and Sir Christopher Lee.
The event has welcomed actors and actresses from the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Austria onto its red carpet over the course of the last two years and this year will be no exception, celebrating above all the Austrian film industry.
Several awards will be handed out on the evening, including a life time achievement award which was given to Sir Christopher Lee last year and Oscar winner Maximilan Schell in 2010. The most Popular National and International Actor and Actress Awards were also handed out last year, awarding promising Austrian and International talent.
Party-goers will walk the red carpet up to the dramatic Rathaus setting at 6.30pm on 16 March 2012 before enjoying the Moët & Chandon champagne reception at 7pm. The awards and dinner will be given in the historical banqueting rooms which Christopher Lee was particularly taken with last year: "Glamorous festivals in historic settings are few and far between where I come from," he explained.
The ball officially begins at 11pm with a performance from the Viennese Svabek dance school before the guests take over and dance into the early hours of the morning. Music will be provided by celebrity Italian tenor Cosimo Panozzo and Canadian Soprano Anna Maria Kaufmann as well as an orchestra belting out everyone’s favourite film music.
Visitors can also look forward to some truly creative touches around the historical building which in previous years included such themed rooms as a Viennese Heuriger, Disco, Casino, Cigar Lounge and a multitude of bars.
