Simon Mantei delivers a superb performance in a new stage production based on a timeless play by Arthur Schnitzler.
"Der einsame Weg" tells of young people’s desperate search for happiness and the difficulties their older friends and fellow family members are confronted with each day. Mantei, a young member of the Volkstheater ensemble, succeeds in playing a challenging leading role in Schnitzler’s drama.
"Die Reise", a theatre project for migrants by Jacqueline Kornmüller is currently also on at the Volkstheater (www.volkstheater.at; +43 1 521 114 00). The play has been praised in reviews for considering various ways of expressing feelings like dancing and pantomime. "Some of the stories told in ‘Die Reise’ move to tears but there are also funny moments," one critic wrote.
"Mondlicht und Magnolien" (Moonlight and Magnolias) by Ron Hutchinson is a comedy play portraying the struggle of David O. Selznick. The producer needs financial support and creative inspiration to continue filming "Gone with the Wind". The movie starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable is one of the most famous and successful cinema productions of all time. Thomas Kamper and Christoph F. Krutzler play leading roles in the Volkstheater’s entertaining play.
