A museum dedicated to the life of Arnold Schwarzenegger will open this weekend, it has been reported.
Styrian newspapers disclosed today (Weds) that the exhibition – set in the house in Thal near Graz where the former politician was born – would focus on three stages of Schwarzenegger’s life. Visitors will learn more about the bodybuilding career of the five-time winner of global bodybuilding competition Mr Universe. Another part of the museum will focus on his career as an actor. Schwarzenegger starred in the acclaimed "Terminator" action movie series as well as in comedy films like "Twins" and "Junior." The third element of the exhibition – which reportedly is going to open at 10am this Saturday (30 July) – is dedicated to his seven-year spell as Governor of the US state of California.
Organisers of the exhibition said Schwarzenegger – who will turn 64 on the day the museum opens – will not attend the opening himself. They explained the plan was to hold an official opening ceremony in a few weeks’ time when his schedule allows him to take part. These announcements come after managers of the museum argued for years they were only waiting with opening it to give "Arnie" a chance to attend the procedure. People who visit the exhibition on Saturday will reportedly have the chance to purchase a stamp especially created to mark the occasion. Several parts of the house have been left unchanged to create a feel of the family’s frugal life.
Schwarzenegger – who was attacked by the media all over the world for keeping quiet to his family about an illegitimate child with a maid for years – most recently visited Austria last month. The "Predator" star held a speech at the Vienna Energy Forum, an event held by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) at Hofburg Palace. He also took the opportunity to meet with opinion leaders and politicians before making a surprise visit to Salzburg. It was the first time the "Governator" had put his feet on Austrian soil since a brief visit in November 2009.
The famous green lifestyle campaigner wanted to attend the spectacular FIS World Cup skiing races in Kitzbühel, Tyrol, last January. However, he cancelled the trip on short notice after Robert Sargent Shriver Jr., the father of his wife Maria Shriver, passed away at the age of 95. Schwarzenegger and Shriver are currently gearing up for a multi-million US dollar divorce battle over the actor’s infidelity.
