An Oasis singles compilation released in a bid to cash in on the Brit rock legends’ heritage has fallen flat in Austria.
"Time Flies...1994 – 2009", which features all 27 UK singles by the band who split last year, has entered the Austrian Album Chart in just 22nd place.
Meanwhile German Schlager singer Helene Fischer’s Best Of compilation tops the chart ahead of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" soundtrack and Iranian-German pop singer Mehrzad Marashi’s debut record "New Life".
Oasis performed in Austria several times before splitting up in 2009. The band’s most recent performance was at the Stadthalle Vienna in February 2009. The Britpop format fronted by bigmouth brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher also headlined the 2005 edition of the Frequency Festival which took place at the Salzburgring racing track.
Oasis sold around 70 million records worldwide between 1991 and 2009. "Time Flies...1994 – 2009" topped the UK Albums Chart as well as the Scottish and Greek charts.
Shakira’s 2010 Football World Cup song "Waka Waka - This Time for Africa" meanwhile heads the Austrian Singles Chart, ahead of "Wavin' Flag" by K'naan which is the theme song of Coca Cola’s World Cup advertisement campaign. "California Gurls" by Katy Perry featuring Snoop Dogg is in third.
