'OsterKlang 2010' promises wide musical spectrum

The musical diversity at Vienna’s established "OsterKlang" Easter Festival will range from classical masterpieces to contemporary dance performances.

Pierre Boulez will conduct the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra at the Musikverein at the nine-day festival’s opening on Palm Sunday (27 March). The world-famous orchestra will perform "Symphony of Psalms" and "Symphony of Wind Instruments", two works by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky.

Dance is set to follow at the Theater an der Wien on 28 and 29 as choreographers Anna Teresa De Keersmaeker and Jérôme Bel have created the ballet "3Adieux" to Austrian composer Gustav Mahler's "Das Lied von der Erde" (The Song of the Earth).

Various other concert performances are set to follow, before the Vienna Symphonic Orchestra brings the "OsterKlang 2010" festival to a close under the direction of Fabio Luisi on Easter Sunday (4 April) with a programme called "Spring in Vienna" at the Musikverein.
