Peymann to perform in Bernhard play

Legendary theatre director Claus Peymann will perform in Thomas Bernhard’s mini-drama "Claus Peymann kauft sich eine Hose und geht mit mir essen" at the Akademietheater, it has been announced.

Bosses at Vienna’s Burgtheater, the Akademietheater’s sister theatre house, said today (Tues) the play will be performed on two nights only, adding that tickets for the 11 and 12 April shows are on sale as of now on www.burgtheater.at

Late Austrian playwright Thomas Bernhard dedicated the play to Peymann and his dramaturg Hermann Beil who will also be on stage in the Akademietheater version of the play which premiered in 1986.

Peymann currently directs William Shakespeare’s King Richard II at the Burgtheater which he headed between 1986 and 1999.

It was also announced that he will sign copies of his book "Peymann from A-Z" after the two April performances of "Claus Peymann kauft sich eine Hose und geht mit mir essen".
