Architect Raimund Abraham dies in California
Austrian-born architect Raimund Abraham died Wednesday night when the car he was driving collided with a bus on a motorway in Los Angeles, it was announced today (Fri).
The prominent architect was born in 1933 in Lienz, East Tyrol. After study in Graz, he worked in Vienna as a representative of the new avant-garde wave of architecture.
He later moved to the USA, where he designed the Austrian Culture Forum that opened in 2002 in New York. It is one of his best known works.
His hometown Lienz also has a bank that he designed.
