Free entry at Natural History Museum Vienna this Sunday

By Thomas Hochwarter

Entry at Vienna’s Natural History Museum will be free of charge this Sunday to mark "Lötsch Day", managers said today (Weds).

Social Democratic (SPÖ) Culture Minister Claudia Schmied will hold the official opening at 15 November on 10.30am, while Bernd Lötsch – the museum’s general director – will guide visitors through the museum’s rooms himself throughout the day.

Culture experts say Lötsch has revived the museum with the introduction of several new installations since he took over as its head 15 years ago. He recently announced he would step down next year.

The Natural History Museum (Naturhistorisches Museum) – located in the capital’s centre – will be open from 9am to 6pm on Sunday.

Its general opening times between Thursday and Monday are 9am to 6.30pm. It is open from 9am to 9pm on Wednesday but closed on Tuesdays.
