Organisers of a charity concert for flood victims have been forced to relocate the event to an indoor venue – because of a bad weather forecast.
Frank Hoffmann, a former Burgtheater actor, who came up with the idea for the event, said today (Thurs) that Saturday’s "Benefiz Güssing" concert will take place at Güssing’s AktivPark sports hall instead of Güssing Castle.
Hoffman warned of the risk of "technical difficulties" if the event – featuring Dutch bluesman Hans Theessink and rock band Opus among others – got underway at the inner castle yard and rain sets in.
Several communities in the district of Güssing were hit hard by torrential rainfalls this summer. Dozens of cellars, homes and public buildings were flooded causing 13.5 million Euros of damages in the province of Burgenland.
Authorities and NGOs are appeal for donations for those affected by the bad weather.
They can be made to the following account: "Burgenland hilft" - Bank Burgenland. Bank code: 51.000; account number: 9101679600.
