A tragic accident happened yesterday (Sun) afternoon in Leonding (Linz, Upper Austria). An 81-year-old man ran over his wife when reversing the car. The woman died at the scene.
The couple wanted to go to a birthday party around 11.45. As the 78-year-old woman wanted to help her husband to reverse the car from the carport, she stood directly behind the car to guide him.
The man reversed, failed to see his wife and knocked her over. The woman was caught between the front right wheel and the wheel arch.
The man got out because he thought that he had driven over a snow hill and got stuck. However, he then discovered what had happened. The emergency services pronounced the death at the scene. The man is suffering from shock.
