Woman died in ski accident in Zürs

A woman was fatally injured during a collision on the slopes in Zürs on Wednesday. The 44-year old female skier from Liechtenstein crashed into a 47-year old German.

The ski accident happened at a precipice in Muggengrat-Täli in Lech/Zürs. According to the police report, the male German skier from Stuttgart wanted to turn at the end of the precipice into the valley to go to a place named "Flexenhäusl". Police state that this is a place where skiers reach a high speed.

The skier from (Schaan) Liechtenstein skied past this point at the same time. The path of the two skiers crossed and they collided. The woman suffered severe head injuries due to the crash. According to the police, she died instantly. Both skiers were wearing a helmet.

The male skier was also injured, although the extent is unknown. He is in shock and recovering at home. It is not clear who is responsible for the accident.

Apparently, nobody witnessed the accident and the police request that any possible witnesses step forward. This has been the first deadly ski accident in Lech this season.
