Moosbrugger visits Prince in hospital

The wife of Dutch Prince Johan Friso left the hospital in Innsbruck, Austria late on Monday with a smile on her face for the first time. The Prince, who is currently in a coma in the hospital, was also visited by friend Florian Moosbrugger yesterday (Tues), who was with him when he was caught in an avalanche on Friday.

On exiting the hospital on Monday, wife Mabel Wisse Smit was seen laughing and joking with her sister. The wife and mother of two girls, has spent the last five days fearing for her husband’s life after he was buried beneath an avalanche without oxygen for more than 20 minutes. The second oldest son of Queen Beatrix was skiing in Lech am Arlberg, Austria when the avalanche struck.

Over the course of the last few days the team fighting to save the Prince’s life has also been revealed. Amongst the group of medical professionals is Professor Claudius Thome who was responsible for life saving treatment of Hans Grugger who sustained serious head injuries in a fall during training on the Streif run at Kitzbühel in Janurary last year.

The 42-year-old Florian Moosbrugger was also able to visit his companion for the first time yesterday, having been unable to previously after suffering from severe shock. The hotel owner from Lech came away from the avalanche unscathed after wearing an avalanche airbag. The childhood friend of the Prince called the emergency rescue team before digging his friend out of the snow with his own hands. The hotel owner is now reportedly to be questioned by Austrian authorities and faces potential charges of unintentional grievous bodily harm.
