Staud's expansion plan
Viennese jam company Staud’s who are famous for their preserve and compote range are expanding production in the capital. The plan calls for the building of a new company site in two years’ time in Ottakring. A new production hall will also be adapted at the current site in Hernals before then.
The new hall for jam production in Hernals will cost 2.7 million Euros with the majority of the cost being covered by Staud’s themselves. The Vienna Business Agency has given a one off payment of 70,000 Euros.
Due to the growing export of the traditional Austrian jams to Germany and Russia, entrepreneur Hans Staud is keen to build the new production facility in Hubergasse in Ottakring. The plans for the running of the plant are currently being approved but the exact amount of money that is being invested in the project is not yet clear.
Staud’s currently export to more than a dozen countries on three continents, employing on average 35 new people every year. The company has become famous worldwide for their particularly careful way of brewing their jam. The fruit is treated very gently, heated in a vacuum to a maximum of 70 degrees Celsius. This allows the vitamins, natural colour and flavour of the fruit to remain in the final product.
In 2012 Staud’s collaborated once again with the Vienna Tourist Board. In this particular venture the company produced a new edition of jam jar with 47 art-noveau motifs from Klimt on the lid.
