Julia Kührer

Tragic schoolgirl Julia to be laid to rest

An Austrian schoolgirl whose disappearance was once linked to incest monster Josef Fritzl is to be buried today.

Sixteen-year-old Julia Kührer vanished after she was seen climbing into a silver car in June 2006 – and detectives working on the case of Josef Fritzl who was arrested in 2008 had questioned him about the case of Julia.

Julia also featured in a book about Fritzl and speculation on whether the convicted rapist had been involved in her disappearance.

But the schoolgirl's body was then found in a house in the Austrian village of Dietmannsdorf 50 miles north of Vienna.

The body of Julia was discovered when children had climbed into the empty house with a pet dog to search for a missing ball - and spotted the remains.

She will be buried in her home town of Pulkau in Hollabrunn and her family have asked it be kept a private affair.

To date no-one has been charged over the girl's murder.
