Church to pay for wedding as priests forgets to turn up
A church in Vienna's Floridsdorf district is being forced to pay the costs of a couple’s wedding after the priest failed to turn up at their marriage ceremony.
The couple had planned their wedding and at the same time the baptism of their child last weekend but were left waiting at the altar after the priest forgot about his wedding commitment.
The priest admitted he forgot about the wedding following a death in his parish, claimed Erich Leichtenberger, the spokesperson for the diocese.
He also offered their sincere apologies to the couple and confirmed it was definitely not deliberate. He confirmed the church will pay all costs incurred by the couple.
