Disco boss fined over racist door policy

A nightclub owner has been ordered to pay 1,440 Euros to a young Austrian after one of its doorman banned him from entering because of the colour of his skin.

The district court in Sankt Pölten ruled yesterday (Tues) that the 20-year-old Austrian whose family has roots in the Middle East, had been unfairly discriminated against because of his skin colour.

After being told he could not enter the Sankt Pölten disco in 2008, the Austrian contacted the anti-racism NGO Zara who helped launch the legal action against the club.
