Avalanche claims another victim in Styria

A 30-year-old snowboarder died in an avalanche on Saturday near Aflenz in Styria’s Bruck an der Mur district, police said yesterday (Sun).

The man and two companions were off-piste when he triggered the avalanche.

The other two, who survived without injury, said the avalanche happened on a 500 metre long slope with an angle of 40 degrees as the victim was crossing it.

They said the snow had not buried the man but had caused him to hit a tree. He died on the spot.
