Woman run over by her own car

A woman was run over by her own car yesterday evening (Mon) in Freistadt, Upper Austria, police said today.

The 36-year-old, who wanted to park the vehicle in the underground garage of her apartment building, had been walking down to open the garage door when her car began rolling towards her.

Unaware of what was happening until it was too late, the woman was then dragged for three metres before the car hit the garage door and stopped.

Neighbours heard the woman’s screams and called police and rescuers, who took her to hospital.

Police said it was not clear why the car began to move.
