Bishop escapes car crash unhurt

A bishop escaped unhurt after his car smashed into an embankment and flipped over in Vorarlberg yesterday (Mon).

ORF Radio reported that a car driven by Elmar Fischer, 73,  the Roman Catholic bishop of Feldkirch diocese, had skidded off a snow-covered road in the Laternser Valley in Feldkirch district, hit an embankment and turned over, coming to rest on its roof.

It said neither he, nor two passengers with him, had been injured.

The police confirmed the report, adding the car had been badly damaged in the accident.
