Asylum seeker threatens crane jump

Firemen rescued an asylum seeker after he threatened to jump off a crane in Graz.

Georgian Wassili S., 28, told the rescue team who climbed up the crane at Andreas Hofer Square on Wednesday that his wife suffered a miscarriage after she was wrongly accused of theft.

He stood there for two hours until rescuers finally persuaded him to let firemen bring him down.

It has now been revealed that the man had twice previously threatened to hurl himself from scaffolding on building sites.
