An investigation is underway after the Austrian UN mission in New York was sent an envelope of white powder yesterday (Mon) evening.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal said today (Tues) the powder was being tested and results would be available during the morning in New York.
People’s Party (ÖVP) Foreign Minister Michael Spindelegger said that such threats had to be taken seriously since the safety of mission personnel was a ministry priority.
He added Austrian authorities would work closely with their New York and US counterparts investigating the incident.
The French and Uzbek UN missions also reportedly received similar envelopes yesterday evening.
