A Vienna girl who called her parents eighteen months ago to tell them she was not coming home from school has been found living as her uncle’s lover.
Police said today (Mon) that Yvonne F. from Vienna-Simmering, who was 13 when she called her parents in January 2008 to say she was not coming back to them, had been found living with her uncle in neighbouring Favoriten district last Friday after police monitoring the internet found her chatting on the internet.
Investigators said the girl had told them she and her uncle were lovers but that she had entered the relationship willingly and had not been forced to live with the 38-year-old.
The girl’s uncle - identified as Wolfgang F. - told cops: "I know I’ve made a mistake as far as the law is concerned but I still love Yvonne."
He reportedly bombarded Yvonne with love messages and phone calls until she fell in love with him and then convinced her to leave home to live with him.
Yvonne’s father Gerhard Ebner said: "He must have put her under enormous pressure. My girl was always very shy. Wolfgang, this pervert, must have made use of that."
Wolfgang F. is being held in custody at Vienna’s Josefstadt prison while the teenager, who is in care at a special ward at Vienna’s general hospital (AKH), has not seen her parents yet, it has been reported.
Youth and family affairs councillor Herta Staffa said: "She is exhausted and tired of all the events around her person. She wants to have some peace and quiet – and she is getting that now."
Staffa said psychological experts were currently trying to connect with the girl before deciding on further treatment.
Austrian media have compared the story to the kidnap case of Natascha Kampusch who was snatched off the street at the age of ten on her way to school by Wolfgang Priklopil.
Kampusch, aged 21 today, escaped Priklopil’s house in Strasshof, Lower Austria, in August 2006. Her pervert jailer committed suicide on the same day by hurling himself in front of a train.
Kampusch gave a TV interview only days after her release, but a TV chat show hosted by her on private channel Puls 4 was abandoned after just a few episodes. Kampusch recently said she may write a book about what her ordeal.
