Victoria's Secret is to open a showroom in Austria, according to reports.
Austrian business weekly Format claims today (Fri) the American lingerie maker plans to open its first representation in the country in the city centre of Vienna in February.
Victoria's Secret has cooperated with some of the best paid models in the world in advertising its products. The firm would compete with leading Austrian underwear and textiles producers Palmers and Wolford and other branch rivals which have run shops in Vienna for many years.
Bregenz-based Wolford made headlines recently when it emerged that former Hugo Boss chairman Werner Baldessarini has joined its supervisory board.
The company said it hoped the Austrian designer and businessman will help in positioning its products’ portfolio.
Wolford’s turnover rose by 9.2 per cent to 29.842 million Euros year on year in the first three months of the current 2010/2011 business year. The company also managed to reduce its operative losses from 3.307 million Euros to 2.466 million Euros.
