Fears of soaring prices at hairdressers have emerged after a commission ruled lower prices for men were unjust.
A special gender equality experts team at the federal chancellery said today (Mon) asking women to pay more for similar haircut services to men was a breach of gender fairness rules.
The commission said it was "baseless and inappropriate" to ask women up to twice the amount men had to cough up for comparable services at hairdressers.
Coiffeur union leaders are outraged by the decision. They argue that women’s haircuts need more time due to their complexity.
Legal officials however doubt the commission’s announcement will be turned into a federal law.
