Wolford's earnings up in first three quarters

Vorarlberg textile firm Wolford reported today (Fri) that its earnings before interest and taxes (Ebit) had increased in the first three quarters of its 2009/2010 business year.

It said its Ebit had increased from increased from 4.69 million to 6.23 million Euros between 1 May 2009 and 31 January 2010.

Earnings per share during that period had gone up from 0.24 cents to 0.77 cents, whereas turnover had fallen by 4.9 per cent year on year to 112.64 million Euros.

Board chairman Holger Dahmen said demand had been picking up since the second quarter of the current business year and he expected positive results for the entire year.

He added that Wolford’s results had shown that the measures it had taken to cut costs and concentrate on its core business and markets had worked.

Dahmen said the firm’s revenue had increased in almost all markets it was present in, especially in Spain, where it had increased by 17.8 per cent. Revenue had decreased only in France and the Netherlands, he added.

He also noted that the firm had decreased its debt by 30 per cent year on year to 24.7 million Euros at the end of January and increased its cash flow from 14.5 to 16.5 million Euros.

Dahmen said last September that Wolford was preparing for "post-crisis growth," adding that the firm would continue to become more efficient, to improve its distribution network, to open new boutiques and to concentrate on its core business.

Wolford had losses of 1.2 million Euros in its 2008/2009 business year.
