Betting platform bet-at-home.com reported good results for 2009 yesterday (Weds), and predicted it would do even better in 2010.
The firm said its turnover had increased by 37.5 per cent year on year to 927.2 million Euros in 2009, and after-tax profit rose from 0.71 million Euros in 2008 to 2.65 million Euros in 2009.
The firm added that significantly higher outlays for advertising amounting to 31.04 million Euros last year had strengthened its position in many countries and resulted in an increase in customers to 1.8 million.
It reckoned on increased growth in 2010, especially because of 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Rival online betting platform bwin reported last month that its net revenue had risen by 2.3 per cent year on year to 373 million Euros in 2009.
Gross revenue increased by 6.1 per cent year on year to 446.6 million Euros, but the increase would have been only 2.8 per cent without the contribution made by Italian online poker platform Gioco Digitale, which bwin acquired.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (Ebitda) amounted to 100 to 105 million in 2009, lower than the 110 million the firm had expected. The number of bwin’s customers rose from 2.1 million in 2008 to 2.4 in 2009.
Bwin will be included in the Dow Jones Stoxx 600 Index as of 22 March 2010.
