Vienna economy hopes for €67mn ball season earnings

Viennese businesses expect 67 million Euros in earnings linked to the current ball season.

"Income thanks to the ball season is an important factor for Vienna’s economy," Viennese Economy Chamber (WKW) head Christine Jank said today (Tues).

Jank also stressed that the various events also had a strong advertising effect since people from all over the world visited Vienna – known as "the ball capital of the world" – just to attend one of its glamorous balls.

The State Opera Ball, set to take place on Thursday, is regarded as the highlight of the season.
