Austrian travel agency Eurotours managed to increase its passenger figures despite "difficult circumstances" last year, it has been announced.
The company said yesterday (Mon) that, with 1,099,653, it had had more than one million customers for the first time in 2009. The figure was an 11.4 per cent year on year increase, bosses said.
Eurotours head Hans-Dieter Toth said the firm – which offers holiday packages to customers in several European countries – had also had record turnover last year of 198.8 million Euros, up three per cent compared to the previous year.
"Eurotours is not being distracted by the economic crisis that has created difficult circumstances for everyone in the business," he said.
Toth said the firm’s goal for 2010 was to strengthen its presence in promising markets such as Germany, Italy, Poland and Slovenia.
Eurotours has around 220 employees and cooperates with 800 tour operators in 59 countries.
