Möbel Ludwig stores closed tomorrow

By Lisa Chapman

Furniture chain Möbel Ludwig has announced it is to close its four stores for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception national holiday tomorrow (Tues).

Mangers said though the store would remain open today until 9pm and with shopper discounts of 21 per cent on a product of choice.

Another major chain - Billa is to also close stories tomorrow. The company began 8 December closures three years ago despite the day being an important Christmas shopping occasion in Austria.

Billa is offering a discount of 15 per cent on all products today except those of their low-budget range "Clever."

Billa chief Volker Hornsteiner said the 8 December closures had gone down well with employees. He said management had received hundreds of letters of thanks from employees for its initiative, which has cost the firm seven to 10 million Euros in turnover each year.
