Retail trade turnover up

By David Rogers

Retail trade turnover rose in the first three quarters of the year, new figures have shown.

Statistik Austria said there had been a 1.0 per cent year on year rise in retail trade turnover in real terms during the first nine months of 2009.

The agency reported today (Fri) that turnover had increased even more in September, 3.2 in real terms exclusive of the car industry, than in the same month of 2008.

The increase in September was 3.4 per cent in real terms if foodstuffs are excluded, it added.
