Innsbruck - Mali Losinj charter flights to start in 2010

By David Rogers

The first large airplane in more than 19 years will land on Mali Losinj Island airport on 3 October.

The Mali Losinj airport runway has been open in past years only for smaller planes such as Cessnas. The airport is still waiting for runway reconstruction and construction of a terminal building.

The plane with a capacity of 40 passengers will arrive from Innsbruck. Its arrival will be accompanied by the announcement of new tourist charter flights from Innsbruck to Mali Losinj by Austrian agency Idealtours that should start in May 2010.

The weekly flights will be available from May until the end of September 2010, according to online newspaper Croatian Times.

The daily Novi list has reported the first promotional flight has been organised by Jadranka hotels in cooperation with the Croatian tourist board in Vienna, the town of Mali Losinj and the Mali Losinj tourist board.

Jadranka hotels, which will cooperate with Idealtours, expects the new flights will increase the number of Austrian tourists visiting Croatia.

Guests on the 3 October flight will be given a town tour and a visit to nearby Ilovik Island.
