SORE LOSER - Gambler Made Up Robbery To Cover Casino Visit

Gambling addict Dumitru Ionescu, 31, lost out big time when he gambled on being able to lie to his wife that he had been mugged after spending his 70 GBP weekly wage at the local casino at Borsa in Maramureș, Romania.

He claimed he had been mugged as he walked home from the bank but ended up losing out again after she made him file a complaint with cops - who fined him another 70GBP for wasting their time when they found out he had been lying.

A police spokesman said: "We understand though that he was more worried about what his wife would say when she found out he had been gambling and then lied about it. Apparently he has not been home for a week."
