Trotter Way to Go

An astonished dad has told how he wrestled a crazed legless boar when it attacked him and his two sons in their garden in Adlikon, Switzerland.

The 200 lbs tusker hurled itself at terrified Markus Lainer, 37, biting him in the leg as he struggled to keep it away from his sons aged three and five.

It was only when the beast turned tail and fled that he noticed that both its rear trotters had been cut off.

"It ran towards me and caught me and bit me in the leg," said Lainer.

"I tried to fight it off, hitting it until it let go. The boar then ran off and I noticed it didn't have its back feet," he added.

His wife Jeanette dialed 999 as she watched her husband struggling with the beast in their back garden.

Police - who later shot the boar - believe the animal's legs has been sheered off in a collision with a train.

"It must have been in a lot of pain," said one.
