New Leash of Life

He may look barking, but Harry is one wheel lucky pup - after his owner refused to have him put to sleep when he lost the use of his rear legs.

Harry - a three-year-old Samoyed - became paralysed after a tainted vaccination shot affected the nerves in his hind quarters.

Owner Wang Bingzhuo, 27 - from Shenyang, Liaoning province, northern China - explained: "Three months after the injection he lost all feeling in his back legs because the vaccination had been a fake and full of poison.

"Everyone told me the kind thing to do would be to put him down.

"But I saw a magazine story about a dog in Britain that had wheels for legs and I thought, 'Why can't I do that?'," he added.

Wang then searched half of China before he found an engineer willing to build the wheels and a special harness.

"Now he is faster on his wheels than he ever was on his paws. I have to use a bike to keep up," he laughed.
