Mind Your Language

Poland's foreign minister has taken a German hotel to task after an official visit to Berlin - for not providing any Polish-language programmes on their 161 channel TVs.

Radoslaw Sikorski - an Oxford University pal of David Cameron and Boris Johnson - sent managers of the luxurious five star 800 GBP-a-night Adlon Hotel, opposite the Brandenburg Gate, a letter complaining of the snub.

In the hand-written note he said:"I congratulate you on your fine establishment. The facilities and the service are first class."

He added: "The choice of TV channels is also impressive, including as it does stations from Iraq, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

"However, could you possibly include a station from Poland, a country of 38 million people 70km from here? I am sure it will make your Polish guests feel more at home."

Now red-faced hotel managers say they're including one Polish language channel.

"It's there on a permanent basis," said a spokesman.
