A son who poisoned his disabled mother with bleach and left her to die in agony has been jailed for life in Memmingen, Germany.
The 42-year-old son - who was his mother's sole carer - poured bleach into her cup of tea and then left her alone in the house, prosecutors told the court.
He'd told judges he was desperate because of the pressure of caring for his mother round the clock.
"I just wanted her to be quiet. I am sorry. I didn't want to kill her. I would get up through the night to take her to the toilet," he said.
"She would scream and cry. It was all too much for me. You cannot imagine what a strain it is to be in my position," he added.
The court heard that his mother survived the original dose, but died in agony two months later from severe internal injuries
