Wedding Fireworks

Jilted Mingmei Li, 27, opted for an explosive cocktail including a gas canister and plastic bottles filled with petrol to drown her sorrows after her relationship broke up in Shenyang, capital of northeast China’s Liaoning province.

The young woman not only scrambled on to the the top of the building and balanced on a narrow concrete pillar in a wedding dress – but she also guzzled down several bottles of beer and smoked a cigarette with the petrol filled plastic drink containers tied to her waist.

A witness said: "She was tipping back the beer, and alternately laughing and then crying, with the lighted cigarette and the petrol bottles sloshing around it was really dangerous. We though she would either blow herself up or fall to her death."

Firemen rigged up a safety net below the woman - who told them the man she had planned to spend the rest of her life with had dumped her.

But it wasn't needed as they managed to coax the young woman down.

She was sent back to her family to sleep off her hang over and police have said she will not be charged after she agreed to have counselling for her depression.
