Bright Sparks
A Christmas-loving German family who left their decorations up throughout January burnt the house down after they decided to light the Xmas tree candles one last time before taking them down.
The tinder dry tree that had been in the centrally heated flat almost two months went up "like a torch" after the candles were lit in the property at Munich in Germany.
The family of four, Walter Koenig, 80, his wife Ingrid, 73, as well as the couple's 47-year-old daughter Maria were treated for smoke inhalation, burns and cuts from the glass as they smashed a window to escape.
