British bosses are offering thousands of new jobs to Romanian workers while UK unemployment figures soar to a new high, it has emerged.
Just days ago, officials revealed that the number of British unemployed had reached a 17-year record of 2.68 million.
But Romanian job-seekers are being snapped up by UK bosses in a recruitment drive that has put Britain at the top of the migrant workers' league.
Online recruitment agency tjobs.ro, in Bucharest, says British firms are trying to fill 2,434 new jobs with Romanian workers, above even Germany, which is looking for 2,387 job seekers.
Many of the posts are for medical staff, tourism workers and skilled staff, with 25 per cent being offered to labourers and unskilled workers.
Earlier this month (Jan) UK unemployment hit a new high with the worst figures in record since 1994, giving Britain a jobless rate of 8.4 per cent.
