Shocking plot

A 33-year-old electrician tried to murder his pregnant ex girlfriend by wiring her garage door to the mains to electrocute both her and her new lover's unborn baby, a court heard.

Judge Regina Rieker-Mueller was told how Marie Schuhmacher, 28, only survived the shock because rain on the ground had helped earth thousands of volts as they shot through the metal handle.

Her former partner Uwe Seiler - jailed for five years at Stuttgart court in Germany - had previously sent a text messaging threatening to "wipe you out."
