Huge Brit paedo ring
British police are working with detectives in Serbia to bust a secret ring of more than 100 paedophiles grooming youngsters through Facebook for sex, it emerged today (Tuesday).
Serbian police have already visited British police experts to swap intelligence on the network and arrests are imminent, say official sources in Belgrade.
Local investigators believe they stumbled across a group that was attempting to set up a Europe-wide covert network of abusers to swap techniques and victims.
Interior Minister Ivica Dacic also visited British investigators this week, say local media.
"We are talking about a large group of perverts who were attracting children through social networks on the internet, like Facebook.
"There were over 100 people in the group. They were suspected of abusing children," one senior police source told local media
"British police are searching for the organiser of the group and we hope arrests will happen soon," they added.
British paedophiles were said to be searching for fellow child abusers in Serbia to recruit vulnerable youngsters through the internet.
"They were using fake identities to approach kids and now British police are investigating to see if the youngsters were just abused over the internet or if any of them met their abusers.
"Children in every European country were at risk," said a police source.
